This colossal creation is a true declaration of love for all peanut butter enthusiasts!

There are moments in life that call for something truly extraordinary, something that transcends the ordinary and delivers an unparalleled level of joy. For me, that moment often involves the perfect pairing of chocolate and peanut butter. It’s a classic combination that has captivated taste buds for generations, offering a delightful balance of sweet and savory, rich and creamy. But what if we could take this iconic duo and elevate it to an entirely new dimension? What if we could craft a dessert so magnificent, so indulgent, that it becomes an unforgettable experience? That’s precisely the inspiration behind this XL Peanut Butter Cookie Dough Cup. It’s not just a treat; it’s a statement, a celebration of pure, unadulterated deliciousness.
If you’re anything like me, the mere mention of chocolate and peanut butter together instantly sparks cravings. We all love the familiar comfort of a traditional peanut butter cup, but I’ve often pondered, could it be made better? Could its potential be unlocked further? The answer, I discovered, lies in two key elements: an unbelievably silky, intensely peanut buttery cookie dough filling, and making the entire confection absolutely ginormous. Imagine that perfect crunch of chocolate giving way to a luxuriously smooth, melt-in-your-mouth cookie dough center. It’s an experience that’s truly second to none.

The journey to creating this epic dessert begins with the chocolate. For a giant peanut butter cup of this caliber, the chocolate isn’t just a coating; it’s an integral part of the experience, providing that essential textural contrast and robust flavor. I opted for a high-quality candy molding chocolate that has been pre-tempered. Tempering chocolate is a crucial step that ensures a glossy finish and that signature satisfying “snap” when you bite into it, preventing it from melting too quickly in your hands. This attention to detail transforms a simple chocolate shell into a professional-grade confectionery masterpiece. I specifically used a dark chocolate from Chocoley, and I was genuinely impressed by its ease of use and superior results. The first bite delivered a delightful crunch, followed by a creamy, rich melt that coated the palate. The flavor was unmistakably reminiscent of everyone’s favorite classic peanut butter cup, but elevated by the premium dark chocolate notes. This foundation sets the stage for the incredible filling that awaits.
Now, let’s talk about the star of the show: the peanut butter cookie dough. This isn’t just any cookie dough; it’s extraordinarily creamy, incredibly smooth, and bursting with an intense peanut butter flavor that will make any enthusiast swoon. The texture is so refined, almost caramel-like, which is achieved through a specific technique. Instead of simply creaming butter and brown sugar together, I melt the brown sugar directly into the butter. This gentle heating process dissolves the sugar crystals, eliminating any potential graininess and resulting in an exceptionally smooth and cohesive dough. This method contributes significantly to the melt-in-your-mouth quality of the filling, making each bite a luxurious experience. If, however, you prefer a more traditional cookie dough texture with a slight chewiness and subtle sugar granules, you can easily adjust the process. Simply use softened butter and cream it with the brown sugar until light and fluffy before proceeding with the rest of the recipe. Both methods yield a fantastic filling, allowing you to tailor the experience to your preference.

When these two magnificent components – the crisp, rich chocolate shell and the velvety, peanut-packed cookie dough – unite, the result is nothing short of a peanut butter lover’s ultimate dream. This dessert transcends the realm of ordinary treats, offering an indulgent experience that satisfies on every level. It’s the perfect gift for the special peanut butter aficionado in your life, especially with upcoming occasions like Valentine’s Day providing the perfect excuse to shower them with such a unique and thoughtful confection. This giant peanut butter cookie dough cup isn’t just delicious; it’s incredibly fun to make and even more delightful to share. Its impressive size and irresistible flavor ensure it will be the undisputed star wherever you decide to bring it. Be prepared for gasps of delight and requests for the recipe! I truly hope you enjoy creating and devouring this magnificent treat as much as I do.

Beyond its immediate deliciousness, the XL Peanut Butter Cookie Dough Cup offers a delightful sense of nostalgia, taking you back to childhood favorites but with an adult twist of sophistication and sheer indulgence. The combination of textures – the firm, snappy chocolate and the yielding, creamy cookie dough – creates a dynamic eating experience that keeps you coming back for more. It’s a dessert that encourages savoring each bite, appreciating the craftsmanship and the generous spirit behind such a creation. Imagine serving this at a party; it’s not just dessert, it’s a conversation starter, a centerpiece, and a testament to your culinary adventurousness. Or, perhaps, you might keep it all to yourself, slicing off a generous portion whenever a serious craving strikes. There’s no wrong way to enjoy this masterpiece.
Making this XL cup also gives you complete control over the quality of ingredients. You can choose your favorite type of peanut butter – creamy or crunchy, natural or conventional – to perfectly match your palate. The dark chocolate provides a beautiful counterpoint to the sweetness of the cookie dough, but milk chocolate or even white chocolate could offer different, equally appealing flavor profiles if you wish to experiment. The beauty of homemade treats is this very flexibility, allowing for customization and personal touches that store-bought options simply can’t provide. This recipe is designed to be approachable for home bakers, ensuring a rewarding experience even if you’re new to making large-scale confections.
When it comes to serving, this giant cookie dough cup is incredibly versatile. A simple slice reveals its magnificent layers, making for a stunning presentation. You could garnish it with a sprinkle of sea salt to enhance the flavors, a drizzle of extra melted chocolate, or even a dollop of whipped cream for added decadence. It pairs wonderfully with a cold glass of milk, a hot cup of coffee, or even a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream to create an à la mode experience. Whether it’s a birthday celebration, a holiday gathering, or just a weekend treat, this XL Peanut Butter Cookie Dough Cup is guaranteed to leave a lasting impression and gather rave reviews. It’s truly a labor of love that rewards generously with every single bite.
Ingredients
- 2 cups chocolate morsels, I used dark chocolate in a candy & molding formula
- 1/4 cup 1/2 stick unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup peanut butter
- 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup flour
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
-
In a small saucepan, heat butter until melted. Whisk in brown sugar until dissolved, then let it bubble for 1-2 minutes*. Remove from heat and whisk in peanut butter. The mixture will be thin. Whisk in milk and vanilla. Place in the fridge for about 20 minutes or until mostly cooled.
-
Lightly butter an 8″ fluted tart pan. Melt 1 cup of chocolate (I do it in the microwave, heating for 30 seconds, stir, 15 seconds, and stir until melted). Spread the chocolate in the prepared pan, evenly along the bottom and up the sides of the pan. Place in the freezer for 20 minutes to set.
-
The butter & sugar mix should be cool. Whisk in powdered sugar, salt and flour, until combined. The dough will be wet, so place it in the fridge for 15 minutes to harden.
-
Once chocolate is set, spread the dough evenly in the chocolate. Melt the remaining chocolate, then cover the top with chocolate, smoothing with a spoon. At this point, you can leave the peanut butter cookie dough cup at room temperature to harden if you used tempered chocolate like I did, or you can store in the fridge if you just used regular chocolate chips to help keep them from softening.
